The food system, and our part of it (snacking), is broken. Thanks to the snack-establishment, snacks leave people unsatisfied and feeling guilty. Their best efforts are helping people to consume 22kg of sugar more than they need every year, that’s 3 times the recommended amount. Not to mention the salt and empty calories. To the point where people try to avoid having snacks altogether. That’s how little faith there is in our part of the food system - people believe their only option is to quit it altogether.

Our purpose at graze is to rewrite the snacking rulebook for healthy people and a healthy planet. We recognise it's a daunting task - thankfully, we’re standing on the shoulders of giants, the founders of graze, who started to rewrite the rulebook of snacking:

… that snacks need to look a certain way

… that snacks come in wrappers

… that snacks are always bought from a shop

… that healthy can’t be tasty

… that convenience is always worse for the planet

And rewriting that rulebook remains our mandate today. We’re on a never-ending hunt for tastier, crunchier, fresher, better snacking and we think snacks made with seriously tasty, wholesome ingredients and lots of imagination is a good place to start.

When we show grazers - which can be everyone - that there is an alternative and that they don’t need to quit snacks to be healthy or to care for the planet, we’ll have accomplished our mission. And helped, in our own small way, to solve our part of the food system.

what you’ll be responsible for

As our Chief Financial Officer, you’ll be responsible for driving graze’s financial performance reporting into the CEO. You’ll lead both the commercial finance team and our financial control team.  

Transformation agenda - you’ll lead graze’s commercial finance team across our retail and DTC businesses as we accelerate the growth momentum achieved in 2021. Graze is a multi-category and multi-channel business so you’ll be adept at maxing the mix and identifying and realising revenue growth and profit advancement opportunities in our core and new categories, channels and markets.

Performance management - you’ll be the guardian of our financial performance, leading financial planning & analysis and providing clear insights to guide our budgeting/forecasting through the year, managed through the S&OP cycle. You’ll be experienced in providing regular performance reporting to the operating business as well as senior stakeholders within Unilever.

Revenue growth - you’ll lead the evolution of graze’s trade terms framework and governance that facilitates our approach to strategic customer investment. In the context of retail market consolidation, you’ll have experience of establishing pricing corridors that support our retail market growth and within DTC you’ll understand the financial levers in acquisition and managing churn to optimise for LTV (lifetime value).

Cost Controller - you’ll have strong experience of financial controls, ensuring our system capability (including a recently deployed ERP system & with a new Demand & Supply Planning system being deployed in Q1) are fit for purpose & the necessary financial controls, strong credit risk management and balance sheet recs are in place & followed appropriately.

Financial Reporting - you’ll ensure accuracy and correctness of graze’s financial reporting. You’ll sign-off monthly accounts reported into Unilever, ensuring correct accounting policies and controls have been followed, and variances vs forecast are understood. You’ll then work with the Financial Controller to ensure delivery of Stat Accounts and audit sign-off to deadline.

Company Director/ISO - you’ll sit on the graze board, managing business risk and working with our tech and legal contacts to ensure compliance across all areas including information security and data privacy. You’ll partner with the Leadership Team on strategy creation, ensuring delivery of graze’s long-term financial targets.

Finance team leadership - lead a team of 12 across both commercial and control areas. You’ll set the team priorities and strategy to deliver the business objectives, as well as driving engagement within the team. You’ll create a strong focus on development and progression, and ensure resourcing needs are understood and fulfilled now and in future states.

You’ll be part of the graze leadership team, partnering with key commercial leaders (UK Sales Director, CMO, Commercial Strategy, Data Analytics Director & Head of Owned Commerce) as well as our People and COO to achieve our big, frankly a bit audacious, growth ambitions and building our high challenge, high support philosophy.

The CFO leads a team of 12 people including retail & DTC business partners, COGS & FP&A team, financial controls including AP and management accounts.
